Ethnicity and Race

The first thing I noticed about the reading was the differentiation about the origin of the ethnic identity but this seemed irrelevant to the concept outside that it reflected the idea that the topic evolves.Change in perception of what it takes to assimilateĀ  evolved into new enterpretations on negative opinions about these identities. This lead to a number of ramifications that was not always dealt within the ethnic group. This and a focus on foriegness in the second reading serves to enhance the difference of race and enthnicity and results in questions about loyalty and ability to become a good and functioning part of society through assimilation.
